Plants/flowers for hanging baskets?

I want to use plants that will last all summer without creating loads of work for myself..any ideas...they are for hanging baskets.
Say
FlowersBirthday FlowersSympathy Flowerstrailing petunias - they comes in all colours and some have scent. Any garden centre will sell them but dont put them in baskets yet until you have pinched out top to get a well established strong growth. combined with trailing ivy it should look great and all you need to do is to feed them

miraclegrow (my daughter uses tomorite )once a week (or when i remember) and of course they will last longer if you deadhead them
Reply:I have had great luck with baskets I made with fan flowers, sweet potato vines and African daisies. I had blooms all summer and only had to water them. I have included sites to show these flowers. Good luck.

Reply:Trailing lobelia

allisum

petunias

gypsophillia

busy lizzies

geraniums

all look good
Reply:As hanging baskets need watering at least once a day during the summer I suggest you use geraniums (Pelargonium type, not the perenial cranesbill type)

Geraniums need very little water to survive so it wont matter if you forget. There are are 2 main types. Upright zonal geraniums which you can plant in the middle of the basket and trailing ivy leaf geraniums which can be planted around the edge to trail down. They come in pink, red mauve and white.
Reply:Avoid Petunias because they go slimey and have to be dead headed every day. Pelagoniums are good with fuschia and trailing lobelia.
Reply:There are dozens of plants that will hang over the sides of a basket. Petunias, pansies will bloom through the summer if you want flowers and you are in the sun. You could plant snapdragons in the center and have great color pots.

Remember you will be watering often.
Reply:try some frens, a bost fern is nice , doesnt need too much sun, and is a common hanging basket.

or try a moon vine. moon vines are vines that are perennials in warmer regions. they make a beautful fragrant flower that can smell the entire yard up, but is not overpowering. they are vines and grow large so you may need to cut the leave off when it getts too large.

also this one ONLY blooms before sunset, during the night, and until about 6 am
Reply:i do a moss based basket and put in
